Horses In Training with Eliza
Graffini Grace

2000 Hanoverian Mare (Graf Genius/Espri) bred by Honey Locust Farm, owned by Cindy Sydnor.
Gracie and Eliza have been together for 12 years now. Eliza started her under saddle and has been her only rider since. Gracie is a very talented mare with a lot of energy and expression. She has competed successfully through the I-1.. Gracie had a filly, Lorelei, by Lagoheidor May 24, 2014, and we are thrilled with her! Gracie came back stronger than ever after her time off to be a mom. She and Eliza competed in 2015 in the I1 Freestyle and made it to the Regional 1 Championships. She is now teaching Kate Tackett, Eliza's working student, the ropes and loving her role as a schoolmaster! Kate is successfully competing her at 3rd level, and it is a such a joy to see her so happy.

D'Arcy

2014 Hanoverian Mare (Dante Weltino/Davignport) bred by Rebecca Arnold, owned by Kevin McNeilly.
D'Arcy is a very special 3 year old mare. She was bought by Kevin in 2016 as a dressage prospect, and we could not be more pleased with her. She is sweet and smart and already going lightly under saddle. She will learn some basics this spring, have a bit of time off in the heat of the summer, and then go back under saddle this fall. She is one to watch for the future!

Flip Side

2010 Hanoverian Mare (Fuerst Romancier/Sir Donnerhall) bred by Marcia Boeing, owned by Flip Side Group, LLC.
Flow is proving to be just as incredible as we'd hoped. She competed in the FEI 4 year old tests last year as well as Training level, with scores always in the 70s! Flow was the Reserve Champion at Training Level for Region 1 in 2014. She competed very successfully in 2015 at First Level, also scoring only in the 70s. She continues to grow, and we are giving her all the time she needs to get strong in her big body!

Fuerst Blush

2011 Westphalen Mare (Fuerst Piccolo x Matcho AA), owned by Jackie Powell and Ashley Nosek.
Blush is the coolest little mare! What she lacks in height she more than makes up for in spunk and athleticism. This mare is such fun to ride. Emme Johnston gave her a wonderful start, and Eliza and Kate Tackett are riding her now and competing her at Training and First Levels. Blush and Kate will compete at the USDF Region 1 Finals in Training Level next month. One for the future, for sure!

B-Sanfrieda

2006 KWPN Mare (Sandreo/Donnerhall), owned by Kevin McNeilly.
Frieda just arrived at the end of July from Holland. We are thrilled for Kevin on the purchase of this beautiful mare. Frieda was competed in Holland through the equivalent of 3rd level and knows the work from 4th level. She is lovely, sweet, and delightfully sensitive to ride. She and Kevin will be getting to know each other this fall and hopefully begin competing soon.

Kaiden

2013 KWPN Gelding (Lord Leatherdale/Ulft), owned by Jennifer Jones.
Kaiden arrived in early spring to be started under saddle. He is a super smart, handsome young guy. He is learning quickly, and we have already ridden him a bit. He has lovely gaits and the most darling disposition. Kaiden will head home to his owner this summer for her to enjoy and hopefully begin showing later in the year!

Shazam I Am

2014 Hanoverian Gelding (Sir Donnerhall II/Waldorf), bred by Mary Messinger, owned by Ellen Peebles.
"Trooper" is a very exciting young dressage prospect. He is a half brother to his owner's mare, Favulous, from the same dam. This dam has made some really phenomenal sport horses, and Trooper is proving to be the same. He has three super gaits and a very sweet disposition. He just arrived and will be started under saddle for the next couple months and then have a short break in the heat of the summer. Watch for videos of this one!!

Lorelei

2014 Hanoverian Mare (Lagoheidor/EM Graffini Grace) bred and owned by Eliza Sydnor Romm
Lorelei is the daughter of Eliza's FEI mare, Gracie. She is by Lagoheidor, who was a very successful jumper as well as dressage horse. This mare is bred to be a top, top jumper but has the movement for dressage. We will let her decide! She will be started this year but is taking her time growing. We are very excited about her future!

New Lady Day

Nueva and Hannah spring 2016
1999 Andalusian/TB mare owned by Hannah Kirby
Nueva came into training last fall, and Eliza rode her and taught her owner regularly until this summer. Emme has been working with her since July and loves her. She is a 17 year old mare who had a lot of time off due to various problems. But now she is healthy and back into serious work. She is a beautiful mare with 3 good gaits and the best disposition in the world. Her owner competed her earlier this year at First Level and is now preparing for Second Level in the fall.

Double Oh Seven

2007 Oldenburg Gelding (Davidoff Hit/Festrausch) bred by Hilltop Farm, owned by Catherine Cheney.
Dubs has been with Eliza Sydnor Dressage on and off his whole life! He came to Braeburn Farm to grow up, starting at 6 months. Eliza backed him and trained and competed him for a few years. He then went to learn some jumping and worked with some great event trainers. His owner is back in the area for med school and enjoying riding him when she can. Emme started working with him this summer and does a beautiful job. He is such a lovely horse, and we always love having him with us!

Ronan

2007 Irish Draught/Connemara Gelding, owned by Ashley Powell Nosek
Ronan came for some basic dressage training, even though his destiny is to be a great fox hunter for Ashley's husband! He is the cutest and sweetest thing in the world. We keep warning JB that we might steal him and turn him into a fancy dressage horse and take him to a show! He has three good gaits, a stellar disposition, and is working on better suppleness and balance.

Just Jake

1996 Irish TB Gelding, owned by Emme Johnston
Jake had a great winter in FL with Emme, and they competed at Prix St Georges! Emme has done an amazing job with this horse and has such an incredible bond with him. He was a school horse at Mt. Holyoke, where Emme went to college. Upon graduation, Emme was able to buy him, since he didn't make a great school horse, occasionally bucking students off! Through patient, correct training, she has brought him all the way to FEI and kept him happy and incredibly sound at 20 years of age. It's amazing that he just keeps getting better, and we're all looking forward to him competing at the PSG here in NC soon.

Reggae

2014 Hanoverian Mare (Regazzoni/Lanthan) bred and owned by Gerry Orlando.
Reggae is here to be started under saddle. She is out of the fabulous mare, Lantanna, who won her Mare Performance Test with Emme a few years back. Now Emme gets to ride her daughter! Reggae is beautiful and has such a sweet disposition. She is settling into her new life and enjoying all the attention. She has a super walk, just like her mother, and she is going to be a powerhouse! We are excited to watch her develop.

Lancer

1993 Dutch WB gelding (Edelmann/Saluut) bred by Ellen Perry, owned by Eliza Sydnor Romm
The best horse ever! Lancey & Eliza were together for 18 years. They competed from Training level through Grand Prix and everything in between. Lancer was the kindest horse to walk the planet. He taught Eliza so much, along with a few other lucky riders, and then got to enjoy a well deserved retirement, eating way too much grass, and occasionally teaching some lucky little girls how to walk and jog slowly ;)
Lancer passed away in late 2016 and will be forever missed.

Prince Hopeful

2001 Hanoverian Gelding (Prince Optimus/Wuemmestern) bred by Honey Locust Farm, owned by Eliza Sydnor Romm.
Pappi was one of the most kind and generous horses I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He had chronic suspensory disease and was no longer sound for any riding for many years. While his legs betrayed him far too soon, he remained his cheerful, wonderful self. He lived out with Lancer and Brookie and the cows at the end of his life and still frolicked and played every day. I will always be grateful to this wonderful horse for teaching me so much.

Slo Blazing Brook

1984 Quarter Horse Gelding, owned by Eliza Sydnor Romm
Brookie was truly the best pony/horse you could ever know. He and Eliza got together when she was 6 and he was 4, and they haven't spent too many days apart since then. Brookie learned up to PSG dressage, did jumping, vaulting, cow herding, and general wild galloping through the fields. Near the end of his life he lived with Lancer and Pappi on the "other" side of the farm munching grass all day long and occasionally bossing around some cows. He passed away in the fall of 2015 and will be forever missed.
